Architecture entrance exam act as gateways for admission in b arch course. There is few architecture entrance exams like JEE Mains paper 2, NATA.  which are conducted for admission to architecture colleges.

JEE MAINS (B.ARCH)

JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch.) is an entrance exam for architecture programs, assessing aptitude, mathematics, and drawing skills, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to B.Arch. programs in NITs, IITs, and GFTIs   


 

JEE B.Arch. Syllabus


1.This exam consists of three parts first one is mathematics having higher level of math's.

2.The second part consists of architectural aptitude having questions to test 3D visualization skills of students, building construction, architects and buildings etc. which makes up for one dedicated faculty he or she might be an architect.

3.The third part consists of drawing to test creative ability of students, their imagination skills, their presentation skills, etc.

Part - I: Mathematics (Computer Based Test)

Part - II: Aptitude Test (Computer Based Test)

Part - III: Drawing Test (Pen and Paper Test in Offline Mode)

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:


To be eligible for JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch.), you need to have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, and achieve a minimum aggregate of 50% 


 Here's a more detailed breakdown of the eligibility criteria:

  • Qualifying Examination: You must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board. 
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics must be compulsory subjects in your qualifying examination. 
  • Minimum Aggregate Marks: You need a minimum aggregate of 50% in the qualifying examination. 
  • Year of Passing: You must have passed the qualifying exam in 2023, 2024, or be appearing for it in 2025. 
  • Other Equivalent Examinations: You can also be eligible if you have passed the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with a minimum of five subjects. 
  • Diploma Holders: Candidates holding a three-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education are also eligible. 
  • No Age Limit: There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main for B.Arch. 
  • Number of Attempts: A candidate can attempt the JEE Main exam a maximum of three times in consecutive years.

NATA

 NATA is an aptitude test that assesses a candidate’s innate ability through a variety of testing formats and cannot be taught, learnt or induced. NATA measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study i.e. Architecture, through assessment of cognitive skills, visual perception and aesthetic sensitivity tests, logical reasoning and critical thinking ability, etc.

The NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) exam assesses aptitude for architecture through tests of cognitive skills, visual perception, and aesthetic sensitivity, including sections on Mathematics, Physics, and General Aptitude, along with a Drawing and Composition Test. Here's a more detailed breakdown


:Part A: Drawing and Composition Test (Offline)

  • This section evaluates your ability to visualize, conceptualize, and express architectural ideas through drawing.
  • You'll be assessed on your understanding of scale, proportion, geometric composition, shapes, building forms, aesthetics, color, texture, harmony, and contrast.
  • Expect questions on drawing patterns (geometrical and abstract), form transformations (2D and 3D), and generating plans, elevations, and 3D views of objects.
  • You'll also be required to create 2D and 3D compositions using given shapes and forms, and to perform perspective drawing and sketching. 


Part B: Computer-Based Adaptive Test (Online)

  • This section tests your general aptitude and scientific abilities. 
  • It includes questions on:
    • Mathematics: Basic math, algebra, trigonometry, geometry. 
    • Physics: Electrostatics, current electricity, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, optics. 
    • General Aptitude: Visual reasoning, logical thinking, architecture-related general knowledge, language skills, and reasoning (logical and abstract reasoning, pattern recognition). 
  • The questions are designed to assess your ability to evaluate verbal logic, see patterns, analyze data, and solve problems in various scenarios.

NATA. ELEGIBILITY

 

You must be aware that the candidature is subject to cancellation if you do not satisfy the eligibility for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture. Before proceeding with the application form, you must meet the eligibility criteria for NATA.


  • You must have completed 10+2 with 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or)
  • 10+3 Diploma graduates/appearing with Mathematics as a compulsory exam subject (or)
  • You will be given a 5% relaxation in total aggregate in 10+2 Level/10+3 Diploma and PCM if you belong to SC, ST, OBC- SCL ST category, or PWD (Person with Disability).
