UCEED & CEED
INTRODUCTION
UCEED stands for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design, while CEED stands for the Common Entrance Examination for Design. UCEED is for admission to bachelor's programs (B.Des) in design, and CEED is for admission to master's (MDes) and doctoral programs in design
UCEED (B.DESIGN)
- Purpose: UCEED assesses a candidate's aptitude and skills in design, specifically for those seeking admission to design programs at participating institutes.
- Participating Institutes: UCEED scores are used for admission to B.Des programs at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIT Indore.
- Exam Format: UCEED is a computer-based exam that covers various aspects of design aptitude, including visualization, spatial reasoning, and creativity.
- Exam Schedule: The exam is typically held annually in January.
- Admission Process: UCEED scores are used to shortlist candidates for counseling and admission.
- Result Sharing: UCEED scores are also used by result-sharing institutes to fill available seats in their UG design courses.
CEED (M.DESIGN)
- Purpose: CEED assesses a candidate's aptitude and skills in design, specifically for those seeking admission to design programs at participating institutes.

- Examination Details
CEED examination will consist of two parts, Part-A and Part-B. Candidates must attempt questions from both the parts.
Part-A contains objective questions of three types: Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), and Multiple Select Question (MSQ). Answers to Part-A have to be given on the computer. These will be design aptitude type questions that evaluate visual and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language, observation and design sensitivity of the candidates.
Part-B consists of five questions that are aimed at testing design, drawing and writing skills. The questions in Part-B will be displayed on the computer screen and the answers are to be written in the answer book provided by the invigilator.
The final score is calculated as follows.
Final score = 0.25 × Marks scored in Part-A + 0.75 × Marks scored in Part-B.
- Eligibility
Candidates must have completed a degree/diploma/post graduate degree programme of minimum THREE years (after 10+2 level), or must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2025, or must have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10+5 level) by July 2025.
